Huge congratulations to Chantelle Reid, the boxer from our own city of Derby.
Chantelle has won a silver medal at the 2026 European Boxing Championships in Sofia, competing in the women’s 70kg division. After a strong run through the tournament, she reached the final and faced one of the best fighters in world boxing, Türkiye’s Busenaz Sürmeneli.
This is another important step in Chantelle’s impressive journey. She represents England on the biggest international stages, but for us it is especially meaningful that her story began right here in Derby.
After competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, winning a World Championship bronze medal in Liverpool in 2025, and now adding European silver, Chantelle has firmly established herself among the leading fighters in European boxing.
Congratulations on a fantastic achievement. We look forward to seeing many more victories from you, Chantelle. Derby is proud of you.
