Jack WMC – A Different Perspective on Muay Thai
Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing, filming and interviewing some of the biggest names in Muay Thai, including Saenchai, Jonathan Haggerty and Liam Harrison. Every meeting has been a fantastic experience, but occasionally something comes along that offers a completely different perspective on the sport.
And this seminar was exactly that.
Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of attending the Jack WMC Muay Thai Seminar at Eight Limbs Muay Thai Academy in Birmingham, run by Raf Hussain, whom I consider one of the finest Muay Thai coaches in England.
I was fortunate enough to photograph and film the entire seminar. The photographs have been available on the MMFN website for quite some time, but unfortunately, due to other commitments, I have only just managed to finish editing the video.
The good news is that the complete video is finally available on our MMFN YouTube channel!
A Coach’s Perspective, Not a Fighter’s
What makes this particular seminar so special?
Quite simply, this time we weren’t learning from a fighter demonstrating the techniques that made him successful. We were learning from a coach who understands how to develop those techniques, explain them and make them work for different individuals.
And not just any coach.
Jack WMC is one of the coaches working with Jonathan Haggerty, one of the most accomplished and exciting fighters in modern Muay Thai and kickboxing.
That alone should tell you something about the level of knowledge and experience we’re talking about.
But what impressed me most wasn’t simply Jack’s connection to world-class fighters. It was his approach to teaching.
Throughout the seminar, he demonstrated techniques that might initially appear surprisingly simple, yet their effectiveness becomes obvious once you understand the reasoning behind them.
How to position your body correctly. How to use your natural physical advantages. How to create opportunities without wasting unnecessary energy. How small adjustments in movement, balance and timing can completely change the outcome of an exchange.
These weren’t complicated techniques designed to impress an audience.
They were practical, intelligent solutions to situations that fighters encounter in the ring, including techniques that even experienced competitors might overlook.
And that’s what made the entire experience so fascinating.
Seeing Muay Thai Through Different Eyes
Having attended seminars with some extraordinary fighters over the years, I’ve noticed something interesting.
A great fighter can demonstrate what works.
A great coach can explain precisely why it works, when to use it and how to adapt it to the person standing in front of him.
Watching Jack WMC teaching was a perfect example of that difference.
His understanding of positioning, body mechanics and the small technical details that can make an enormous difference was genuinely impressive.
For me, this wasn’t simply another Muay Thai seminar. It was an opportunity to look at a sport I already love from an entirely different angle.
And I genuinely believe that anyone interested in Muay Thai, whether a beginner, an experienced fighter or even a coach, will find something valuable in this material.
Another Special Addition to the MMFN Collection
Over the years, MMFN has been fortunate enough to capture some remarkable moments with extraordinary people from the world of combat sports.
This seminar is another piece of that growing collection, and personally, I rate it extremely highly.
Not because of spectacular demonstrations or famous names, but because of the knowledge being shared.
Sometimes the smallest technical adjustment can make the biggest difference.
And sometimes watching an experienced coach explain something you’ve seen hundreds of times can completely change the way you understand it.
That’s exactly what happened to me during this seminar.
I’d also like to thank Raf Hussain and Eight Limbs Muay Thai Academy in Birmingham for hosting such an excellent event and giving everyone the opportunity to learn from a coach of this calibre.
The full Jack WMC Seminar Birmingham 2026 video is now available on the MMFN YouTube channel.
I strongly encourage everyone interested in Muay Thai to watch it. Take your time, pay attention to the details and perhaps you’ll discover something that changes the way you approach your own training.
And, of course, if you enjoy the video or have any thoughts about the techniques demonstrated, please leave a comment. I’d genuinely love to hear your opinions.
Thank you for your continued support, and I’ll see you in the next one.
